KKDW Interiors has been busy this year. Over the spring, one of my favorite projects we worked on was transforming an old firehouse in Pennsylvania into a bright, Central Texas-style breakfast taco spot. You can see the lead-up in PT. 1.
Inspired by historic interiors in towns like San Antonio and New Orleans, imagery in stories like Ernest Hemmingway’s “To Have and Have Not,” a walk into a crisp, part-tropical, part-familiar, comfortable space that you want to spend hours in. We saw the transformative power of a good color palette and fresh paint and upholstery, light wood tones to play in the balance of bright, natural light and the rich, beautiful mahogany bar. From concept to execution, this job was a fun exercise in a playful balance between utility and beauty, and working with what you've got to create something bigger. It was also such a fun practice in enlisting all of the aspects of KKDW, from interior design and botanical design (we drove those plants up to PA from Texas!) to furniture fabrication and steel work. So happy we were a part of it. Congrats to Estrella!
